I made the decision today to switch from iWeb '09 to Blogger. I love Apple products but iWeb has its limitations and frustrations. It's a great app for building websites but less so for blogs. Here are some reasons I decided to switch to Blogger:- It is web based which allows me to keep The iCrazee Mac Blog up to date and current from any location as well as remotely from my iPhone.
- It has easier integration with other online web serivices like Digg, Twitter, Tweetmeme, Addthis, Flickr, Google Adsense, and Google Analytics.
- It has better Admin Tools like saving posts in draft mode before publishing.
- It gives you complete control over a template's look and feel with the ability to modify the layout's html and style sheet.
- It provides the ability to export your complete blog if you decide to move it or your can import previously written posts as well.
Here are some of the reasons I decided to switch from iWeb:
- To have all the features in iWeb work I had to publish the blog to MobileMe. I also had to setup an icrazee account in MobileMe then login to my Mac with the icrazee username and upload any changes to the site just so I could have icrazee in the URL. It also meant I had to keep switching users between my own username and the icrazee username. Found this time consuming.
- I kept getting missing .jpg files coming up which caused iWeb to not upload and sync. This is a know issue.
- I am using a Web 2.0 template and when I tried changing the template, in this case to a Web 1.1 template, iWeb kept crashing.
- The iWeb templates can be customed but only non-restricted areas. I increased the width of my blog but noticed whenever you clicked on the comments the increased section would be a different length and the header was cut off. At least for the Web 2.0 Modern Template I was using.
- Per online forums some users experienced losing comments when iWeb incorrectly synced which is concerning. I surely do not want to lose everyone's comments.
- If I eventually have a large number of users following my blog I do not want to be relying on my own backups to ensure my latest iWeb file is backed up correctly and is not corrupted.

If you do not have a Blog of your own, please select Name/URL from the drop down list. You can then add your name and an optional URL.
Note: Only a member of this blog may post a comment.
