Virgin America Sides with Apple and Goes HTML

Apple has stated it is not supporting Adobe Flash on the iPhone and also the upcoming iPad. The reasons are the industry is moving towards HTML 5 which supports most of the same features as Flash and HTML 5 is Open Source. Also Flash does not work well with mobile devices with mult-touch. I tend to agree with Apple, sites that use Flash are a pain to load then there is the constant keeping up with new Flash releases.

Many companies already are re-doing their websites, removing Flash from their sites. In particular Virgin America according to The Register have picked HTML to give users of iPhones and other mobiles the option in the future of checking in through their phone. The iPhone has been around for over two years now and users have been able to do without Flash. I think the success of the iPhone with the potential to advertise to millions of mobile users is more important to companies than using Flash. Also the lack of Flash for the iPad has been seen as a flaw but I think it is a non-issue especially with HTML5 being cleared by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) soon.
